Wild Things Sign Alexander Ovalles After Five-Season MiLB Run
April 18, 2024 - WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Washington Wild Things have come close to finalizing the camp roster for the upcoming spring training portion of the 2024 season. Today the team signed infielder Alexander Ovalles in a move presented by McClellands Contracting and Roofing, LLC. The 23-year-old native of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic split parts of five minor-league seasons between three different organizations: the Chicago Cubs, the Texas Rangers and most recently the Tampa Bay Rays. April 16, 2024 - TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats announced their latest Building the Roster Update with Curtis Lumber on Tuesday, and have signed RHP Jose Felix and RHP Greg Blackman. Felix, the youngest member of the Tri-City roster, is transitioning from a first baseman/catcher to a pitcher. The 21-year-old batted .250 across 21 games in the Texas Rangers system from 2021-22, and reached as high as Triple-A Round Rock in his first professional season, even tossing one third of an inning in relief. Both carry pro-level experience entering their first season in the Frontier League. Collins, just 23 years old, spent the last three years of his career in the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
