First-Round Pick Rutherford Signs with Monarchs

April 17, 2024 - KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A first-round pick with major-league experience is joining the Kansas City Monarchs for 2024. Blake Rutherford, whom the Yankees drafted 18th overall in 2016 and played in the big leagues for the Washington Nationals in 2023, has signed a contract with the reigning American Association champions. Goldeyes Add Canadian Reliever

April 16, 2024 - WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced the signing Tuesday of Canadian right-handed relief pitcher Nick Trogrlic-Iverson. He becomes the fourth Canadian on the Goldeyes' roster, joining pitchers Landen Bourassa (Lethbridge, Alberta) and Travis Seabrooke (Peterborough, Ontario), and outfielder Adam Hall (Lucan, Ontario). Kansas City Monarchs Hire Justin Shafer as Pitching Coach

April 15, 2024 - KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Justin Shafer, a former major leaguer who won a league title with the Monarchs in 2021, has joined the club as pitching coach for the 2024 season. "Justin is a guy I've had a great relationship with for a few years now," Monarchs manager Joe Calfapietra said. "I trust him to take on a role like this. Catcher García Returning to Goldeyes

April 10, 2024 - WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced the signing Wednesday of catcher Kevin García. The 31-year-old rejoins the Goldeyes after spending the past three seasons in the Mexican League with the Pericos de Puebla, the Acereros de Monclova, and the Aguila de Veracruz. García played 127 games for Winnipeg over the 2018 and 2019 seasons, combing for a .246 batting average with 18 doubles, five home runs, and 51 runs batted in.
